IT and Computing

IT skills are hugely valuable for employers in all sectors. Develop your knowledge and skills in IT and Computing and open doors to a wide range of careers.

About IT and Computing

On our IT and Computing courses and Apprenticeships programmes you develop your work related skills including working with different technologies, configuring hardware and software and problem solving. You will learn in our dedicated IT suites and also have the opportunity to take part in live briefs set by industry, for example developing websites for real businesses. Our IT students also compete in national skills competitions including the WorldSkills Microsoft challenge – and have a track record of great success. These opportunities help you to develop your CV and stand out from the crowd.

#YourCAVC

CAVC IT students have a great reputation for success at national competitions. In 2016 in the Microsoft IT Technician round at the World Skills Wales, CAVC students won all top three prizes. James Gradkowski came first, winning gold, while Jake Huntley and Zoila Garcia Mancebo won silver and bronze respectively.

#YourIndustry

There were 1.16 million people working in digital businesses in 2014 – which accounted for 3% of the UK workforce. Employment across the digital industry was mainly focused in IT (74%) and a further 24% were employed in telecommunications (Tech Partnership, 2016).

#YourFuture

Many Level 3 students progress onto IT related higher education courses in universities across the UK and at CAVC, where we offer a Computing HND. Many students go straight into employment in roles including Web Design and Development, Technician and IT Support.
