Armed Forces Covenant

In 2017, Cardiff and Vale College signed up to the Armed Forces Covenant which highlights the moral obligation owed to the Armed Forces by the Government, and the nation. As a Gold ERS Award holder, we actively seek to support the military community by acknowledging the value serving personnel, veterans and military families bring to our business.

Demonstrating Our Commitment
By signing the covenant, Cardiff and Vale College recognises that reservists and veterans bring a variety of transferable skills and qualities to the civilian workplace, developed throughout their military careers.  We also appreciate the challenges that moving into a civilian career can present.

Our Reservists Policy allows up to 10 days paid leave per year for HM Forces, Territorial Army or Reservist duties.
We aim to uphold the standards of the Armed Forces Covenant, by:

  • promoting the college as an armed forces-friendly organisation.
  • providing support for job applications through our HR professionals.
  • providing coaching on interview skills where requested.
  • encouraging support of military charities with fundraising, advice and support
  • seeking to support our employees who choose to be members of the Reserve forces, by accommodating their training and deployment where possible.
