About Sport

Turn your passion for sport into your career. Studying sport can be a stepping stone to a whole range of careers including coaching, teaching, sports psychology, health and wellbeing, fitness instructor, sports and leisure management and more.
You’ll be based at Cardiff International Sports Campus (CISC) – our inspirational home for sport, with classrooms and learning spaces as well as a large gym, fitness studios, outdoor and covered 3G pitches and athletics track. You’ll also benefit from specialist teachers, visiting speakers and opportunities put theory into practice running coaching sessions or undertaking work placements.

Your CAVC

CAVC is serious about sport with excellent sports facilities which you will benefit from. Cardiff International Sports Campus (CISC) is home to all sports courses and boasts outdoor and covered 3G pitches, large gym, athletics track and more. You’ll also have access to our nearby City Centre Campus to study or use sports facilities there, including our Dome, Strength and Conditioning Gym and 3G pitch.

Your Industry

The sports occupations sector in the Cardiff Capital Region is on the rise, boasting a workforce of over 8,000. By 2029, the sector is expected to expand by 5.2%, adding around 430 new jobs. (Lightcast, 2024).

Your Future

Many students study Sport or Sport Performance and Excellence, then progress onto university to study a wide range of courses including Sports Science, Sports Psychology, Physiotherapy, Teaching and more, with some gaining sports scholarships in the UK and overseas. Alternatively, our Health, Fitness and Wellbeing course is for those wanting to step straight into employment working in a sports centre or gym, often taking the Personal Trainer course after so you can work 1-2-1 with clients.
