Train for a career in Aerospace Engineering – with exciting opportunities to work in Wales and across the world. All our Aerospace Engineering courses are based at our International Centre for Aerospace Training (ICAT). This iconic centre includes specialist workshops, laboratories and a huge, real-life hangar with aircraft where you will develop your practical skills. The Centre has fantastic links with industry. This means you gain the right knowledge, skills and industry qualifications on your course, as well as industry work placements – all preparing you for a career in the aerospace industry.

The College’s International Centre for Aerospace Training is a renowned facility – dedicated to training the future talent for this exciting industry. The College and its staff have excellent industry links that students can learn from including British Airways, Boeing, Caerdav, eCube and more.

Your Industry

The UK Aerospace industry remains as number two on the world stage and the largest in Europe with £35billion turnover, 123,000 direct employees and 3,900 Apprentices. Wales is a centre of excellence for Aerospace manufacturing – over 160 companies employ in excess of 23,000 people. It has around 10% of the UK’s aerospace industry which includes 20% of the UK Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) market. Aerospace Wales Forum (2022).

Your Future

At Level 3 you can choose to study one of two options – Aerospace Engineering or Aircraft Maintenance Engineering. From Aerospace Engineering most progress to higher education, including ICAT’s own BEng Hons Aircraft Engineering, run in partnership with Kingston University. From Aircraft Maintenance Engineering most progress into employment or apprenticeships in aircraft maintenance, becoming A License engineers. All options have great progression rates into successful careers this sector.
