This course is ideal for school leavers, giving a useful insight into the world of aviation technologies, providing the required knowledge for those wanting to progress onto Level 3 courses, employment or apprenticeships. This course balances theory and practical to provide prospective students all the fundamental skills and is delivered in all parts of our aerospace campus including classrooms, aircraft hangar and electronics/avionics laboratories.
The qualification is assessed by a combination of e-assessments (multiple choice online tests) and centre devised assignments covering the topics detailed in the course content.
This theory and practical based course enables learners to develop the essential knowledge and practical skills needed to become an aerospace technician or engineer.
This qualification is designed to equip a new entrant into the aviation industry with the fundamental and basic knowledge required as part of their training as an unlicensed aircraft mechanic.
The units for this qualification that will be studied include:
5 GCSEs Grade A* - D to include Maths A* - C (or equivalent) and English at A*- D. A suitable Level 1 Engineering qualification with Grade A*- C in Maths. Successful candidates will require PPE for this course, including steel toe cap boots and overalls.
Students who complete this course can progress onto a Level 3 Sub-diploma course, apply for an Apprenticeship or go into employment.
