This is a knowledge-based qualification for learners employed within the Children's Care, Play Learning and Development sector who intend to progress to a management role.
This qualification provides a ‘stepping stone’ opportunity for learners wanting to progress to Level 5. It is designed for learners to develop the key knowledge and understanding that underpins leadership and management in this sector.
The Level 4 Preparing for Leadership and Management in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development qualification consists of the following three units:
• Leading child-centred practice
• Theoretical frameworks for leadership and management
• Understand how to lead and manage effective team performance
Learners will be required to attend monthly online workshops that provide practical and applicable support to work-based activities.
Additionally, 1-to-1 sessions with a member of the ACT delivery team, using a mixture of face-to-face and remote learning sessions. An ACT assessor will meet with the learner, either in the workplace or through digital means (for example, Microsoft Teams) once a month for approximately two hours to support progress. Learners will be required to carry out additional study and complete work set aside from these sessions.
For the internal assessment learners must successfully complete a series of tasks, involving both oral and written responses.
Learners will need to hold a Level 3 relevant Childcare qualification and be working within a Childcare setting.
