About this course

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is an ideal choice for anyone who has or would like to have environmental management responsibilities at work. 
If you have environmental management responsibilities at work, this globally relevant qualification is for you. You will be able to help your organisation manage its positive and negative environmental aspects and support the implementation and continuous improvement of effective environmental management systems.
Through study and workplace application, you will be able to:

  • Justify environmental management in the workplace
  • Recognise which workplace activities may be subject to environmental legislation or enforcement
  • Assess environmental aspects and impacts, and evaluate existing controls
  • Support environmental emergency planning
  • Understand the importance of reducing environmental harm
  • Outline the issues associated with waste and its management
  • Explain the pros and cons of various energy sources and how to use them more efficiently.

You must have access to a PC/Laptop to undertake this training.
This course runs 9am-4.30pm (approx.) is online and tutor led.

This FREE course is only available to adults that are eligible for a Personal Learning Account (PLA). Personal Learning Accounts, funded by the Welsh Government, are available to employed adults living in Wales that wish to develop skills to progress or change career.

What you will study

This qualification will allow you to:

  • Understand a range of environmental issues so that you can improve environmental performance and reduce harm
  • Work within an environmental management system and contribute to continual improvement
  • Recognise environmental aspects and associated impacts, and evaluate the effectiveness of existing controls
  • Support decision-making with ethical, legal and financial arguments
  • Understand the links between your organisation’s activities and wider environmental issues.

The assessments focus on the application of knowledge to help you prepare for environmental management tasks faced in the workplace.

Assessment format

The qualification is broken down into two units, which are assessed in the following ways:

Unit EMC1 Environmental management

Examination which you will have 24 hours to download, complete and submit

Learners will be required to review a real-life scenario and answer theoretical and practical questions on environmental management.

Unit EMC2 Assessing environmental aspects and associated impacts

This Practical Assessment requires you to assess environmental aspects and impacts in your chosen workplace.

No previous environmental management knowledge is required to study this course.
