Wellbeing

CAVC provides support for learners who are struggling with personal, social or emotional issues which may be having an impact on themselves or their experience at college. At college, learners will have access to Progress Coaches who provide pastoral support and guidance. This includes the delivery of tutorial sessions as well as assisting learners with setting personal targets, fostering motivation and supporting their overall learner journey.

CAVC’s Student Assistance Programme
All CAVC learners will have access to the student assistance programme app. This free wellbeing support and advice is available 24/7 and is accessible in over 200 languages. Counselling support is available via the student assistance programme and learners can request this via the app.

Wellbeing Support
Cardiff and Vale College’s dedicated Learning Coaches offer a varied range of support for learners who may be facing a variety of issues, which makes day-to-day life harder. Issues such as mental health concerns, drug or alcohol issues, relationships and sexual health, family difficulties etc.

Our friendly Learning Coaches can:

  • Offer advice, guidance and sign posting on a range of wellbeing issues at our drop in Wellbeing Hubs
  • Arrange 1-1 goal focused wellbeing sessions for up to 6 weeks
  • Help with referrals to wider college support services and other agencies
  • Provide free confidential sexual health advice via the C-Card scheme
  • Provide workshops on topics such as coping with exam stress, anxiety, relationships and self-esteem.

We want learners to feel supported, safe and happy at Cardiff and Vale College to enable them to progress in all aspects of life and/or work.

CAVC has a dedicated team of Safeguarding Officers who work across campuses to ensure the welfare of all learners.
