Additional Learning Needs

The Welsh Government has changed the way that children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) will be supported.
The new system defines SEN as Additional Learning Needs (ALN). The law is changing for several reasons, but the main one is to make the process simpler and more transparent for all involved. Eventually all learners with a Statement of Educational Need will be transferred to an Individual Development Plan (IDP) following a review meeting involving all key people involved with the young person.

It is very important if you are planning to attend college that you let us know about your support needs as early as possible and before your interview. This is because we want to ensure that we can meet your support needs before you join one of our courses. You can do this on your application form, during an open evening or email us at
