The Classroom, Cardiff and Vale College’s landmark restaurant on the fifth floor of its City Centre Campus, has been announced as a finalist for the AA People’s 1st College Restaurant of the Year Awards for the third year running.
The People 1st International accreditation gives a stamp of approval – recognising colleges that deliver excellent full-time hospitality qualifications, showing employers and potential students that full-time provisions like CAVC is among the best in the country.
Following an engaging and inspiring day at The Grand Hotel Birmingham last week, The Classroom was announced as one of three finalists for the prestigious award.
Level 3 Hospitality Managment learners Stacey Cheung and Marnie Gaskell competed in this year’s event, where they blew judges away by taking part in an activity to present their ideas on how businesses can attract and retain their people, with judges saying that all students who attended the day were smart, engaged, warm, genuine and friendly.
Rachel Bartlett, Senior Head of Department Business and Service Industries, said: “I am always immensely proud of the hard work and dedication of our learners within the department. They go above and beyond their primary qualifications to further enrich their skill levels, gaining recognition and representing the college in an exemplary manner, preparing themselves for the future of the industry, with the support of the experienced staff that work with them every day.”
