Cardiff and Vale College is supporting this year’s It’s My Shout Awards and sponsoring the Best Actor Award.
It’s My Shout is a non-profit Community Interest Company that has been empowering people in Welsh communities to experience working in the Film and TV industry for more than 20 years.
Each year it produces around 12 short films using local people in front of and behind the camera in every role from actors to writers, directors, location scouts, runners, hair and makeup, costume designers and film editors. The short films are then broadcast on BBC and S4C.
The It’s My Shout Awards, held this year at the ICC on 19th May, celebrate those people and their work on the current run of productions.
CAVC has a long history of its learners taking part in It’s My Shout productions. Last year, Performing Arts (Musical Theatre) learner Katie Pritchard (pictured, right) won the Best Young Actor Award for her work in the lead role of the short film Small Change. Katie has since progressed to the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Cardiff and Vale College Principal Sharon James-Evans said: “We are proud to support this year’s It’s My Shout Awards and sponsor the Best Actor Award. At CAVC we aim to provide opportunities that are real, not realistic, and over the years our learners have gained valuable work experience in all aspects of film making from acting through to costume design and hair and makeup, so we have seen first hand the excellent work that It’s My Shout does. Good luck to everyone at the awards tonight!”
