Cardiff and Vale College presented with Princess Royal Training Award for outstanding training and skills development programmes

16 Dec 2022

Cardiff and Vale College Principal Sharon James has been presented with a 2022 Princess Royal Training Award for CAVC’s exceptional commitment to learning and development.

HRH The Princess Royal, as President of City & Guilds, awards employers with outstanding training and skills development programmes which have had a significant positive impact on their business or their staff.

CAVC, as one of the largest colleges in the UK, has a commitment to ensuring high quality teaching provision through developing the digital skills of its staff. To date more than 200 employees have gained professional qualifications, with benefits to staff and learner performance.

This emphasis on investing in digital skills proved invaluable during the pandemic, as the College was able adapt a swift and confident transition to online working, learning and development.

Cardiff and Vale College Principal Sharon James said: “It was an honour to be presented with a Princess Royal Training Award by the Princess Royal herself. As a learning organisation we put the skills and development of the entire CAVC Family – staff, students and the community – at the very heart of what we do.

“Also, as the first Microsoft Showcase College in Wales we strongly believe in the benefits of having a wide range of digital skills. This enabled us to have a robust plan in place to deal with learning, and working, during lockdown.

“We’d like to thank the Princess Royal for this award and the recognition of the importance of training to address skills gaps and the importance of investing in your workforce. We are proud of the CAVC Family and especially proud to have won this award.”
