Cardiff and Vale College’s Basketball Academy has achieved back-to-back wins in the Welsh Schools and Colleges Championship, winning it for the second year running.
The team went into the final, a home game at House of Sport, with an undefeated 5-0 run. They then scored an impressive 31-0 win against Coleg Cambria and will now go on to compete in the Association of Colleges (AoC) British National Championships.
CAVC Head of Basketball Ieuan Alex Jones said: "I am very proud of the players for winning the Welsh Colleges National Championship, our second in as many years. Winning back-to-back titles is never easy and our players have really committed to each other to create a great team environment.
“Milo Dinic was the standout player on the day, dominating in the semi-final and finals. We are all now very excited to be heading to the AoC British National championships in April."
CAVC Basketball Academy Captain Steve Keuni said: "It feels great to be back-to-back winners of the Welsh Colleges National Champions - having been part of both teams that have won it, it is a big accomplishment for myself and the team! I am very excited to be heading back to the AoC British National championships with my teammates and seeing how we perform at the level."
The CAVC Basketball Academy is made up of students from across the College who are studying a range of vocational and academic courses. The Academy provides a supportive and specialist environment that combines first-class coaching and sports facilities with the College’s wide portfolio of courses. Players can progress in their sporting careers while studying at the College and prepare for a future outside of sport as well.
