Independent Living Skills

Our courses prepare you for independent living.

About Independent Living Skills

Our Foundation Skills courses help you to develop skills for your future – for independent living or for work. We support learners with learning difficulties and disabilities. We work with you to put together personalised learning plan based upon your needs, future goals and aspirations. You’ll develop all-round skills in communication, independent living, health and wellbeing, employability and the community around you.

Your CAVC

Our support for learners at CAVC has been awarded the best in the UK! (TES Awards, 2022).We have specialist teachers and a dedicated ALN team, with experts in many areas, all to support your time at college and your future. Our Transition Officers can work with you to support your move to college and make sure you have everything in place to start with us. Find out more or get in touch with one of our team at cavc.ac.uk/support. And our students take part in visits, trips or inclusive skills competitions to widen skills, experiences and confidence during the course.

Your Future

Our Foundation Skills courses develop your skills for life and possible future work. Some students progress onto further learning. Some students progress into work. We have unique Supported Internships with a range of employers that provide a supportive experience to start your working life. Many of students then secure a job with that employer or use the experience to gain work.
