How to secure an apprenticeship

If you’re over 16, living in Wales and not in full time education you can apply for an Apprenticeship. First, you’ll need to find an employer. Get some tips with our step-by-step guide below.

Step 1 - Browse the list of apprenticeship subject areas.

Get to know the areas we offer Apprenticeships in at CAVC. Take a look at the list of subjects here. Apprenticeships are available in a broad range of career areas.

Step 2 - Find an employer

Remember, you’ll need an employer before you can apply to start an apprenticeship. If you don’t have one already in place, Careers Wales has a website listing all apprenticeship vacancies which you can search: careerswales.gov.wales/apprenticeship-search. Alternatively, you may know a local business that is looking for an apprentice.

TOP TIP!
Many young people will also apply for a full-time course in the area they are considering,as a back-up plan, alongside looking for an apprenticeship.

Step 3 - Get in touch & apply

Once you have secured an employer who you can do an apprenticeship with, get in touch with our Apprenticeship Team on 01446 748212They’ll advise if it is possible for you to apply and study with CAVC alongside your work and let you know your next steps.

Step 4 - Confirm your apprenticeship

You, your employer and CAVC will agree your apprenticeship. You’ll then enrol at college to start learning alongside your work.

For more information on how to apply please email apprenticeships@cavc.ac.uk and a member of the team will be in contact with you.
