REACH+ and ReStart Launch

20 Jun 2019

10.45-12.45

REACH opened in Cardiff in 2017, as a central hub for ESOL - English for speakers of other languages - in our capital city. This unique service provides one central point of contact for ESOL across the region, and has supported thousands of individuals since its launch.

With further investment and support from the Welsh Government, REACH+ centres are ready to be launched in Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Wrexham. These hubs will be the central point of contact for anyone wishing to access ESOL from the communities within these cities.

In tandem with this, the REACH+ hubs will be the base for a brand new innovative programme of holistic support for refugees entitled ReStart. ReStart is funded by the European Union Asylum Migration Integration Fund.

Held during national Adult Learners Week, the official launch event will recognise the impact this investment will have on increasing adult learning and supporting our growing refugee community in Wales.

The event will include addresses from both Kirsty Williams, Minister for Education, and Jane Hutt, Deputy Minister & Chief Whip; an overview of how REACH+ and ReStart will operate and impact on our communities, and the chance to view REACH+ Cardiff in operation; speaking both with staff and those accessing support.
