The Level 2 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children and young people in school or college environments. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting children and young people’s positive behaviour and communication and professional relationships.

You will also learn about ALN support - this qualification provides learners with the opportunity to develop their knowledge and skills around supporting individuals with learning disabilities. It is aimed at learners who support individuals with learning disabilities as part of their job role.

You’ll need: 4 GCSEs at grades A*–C, or a Level 2 Extended Certificate with a Pass or higher. Grade CD or above in GCSE English or Welsh Language, or a Pass in Essential Skills Level 2 Communication achieved within the last two years Grade D or above in GCSE maths, or a Pass in Essential Skills Level 1 Numeracy achieved within the last two years. NB: all learners need to gain a satisfactory enhanced DBS check at the point of enrolment.
