This course will provide you with City and Guilds Portable Appliance Testing accreditation/certification.

What you will study

Candidates must:

Successfully complete one online multiple choice test for each mandatory unit
Successfully complete one practical test covering learning outcome 7 of the in-service inspection and testing of Electrical Equipment

Entry requirements

It is expected that the candidates attempting this course should be familiar with electrical systems and hazards of electricity in order to satisfactorily complete the qualification.

In-Service Inspections and Testing of Electrical Equipment (PAT)

I chose to study at the College because of the facilities here and because I’d heard so many good things about it locally. I’ve really enjoyed improving my skills in the workshops, making friends and learning from the staff – they’re very knowledgeable. The College gave me the opportunity to compete in last year’s WorldSkills competition, which I really enjoyed. I was also lucky enough to win Learner of the Year for Building Services, this was another highlight for me. I’ve just been accepted on to a degree course at the University of Bath. Once I finish this, I’ll be looking to get some more work experience and then start my own business.
