About this course

The Construction Management HND builds on the knowledge and skills of the HNC. This covers construction industry fundamentals and planning, health and safety and human resource management in construction, managing construction organisations, and quality in construction.

The Higher National Diploma is highly regarded qualification in the construction sector. The Construction management course is designed to ensure you are highly employable and a valuable addition to organisations within the industry. The areas you will study include all the subjects necessary to meet the expectations of employers, preparing you for a career in this challenging and rewarding sector.

By the end of Level 5, students will have a sound understanding of the principles in their area of specialist study and will know how to apply those principles more widely in the business world. They will be able to perform effectively in their specialist area.

What you will study

You will study the following 5 mandatory modules on this course,

  • Unit 28 Group Project (set by awarding organisation)
  • Unit 39 : Personal Professional Development
  • Unit 30 :Project Management
  • Unit 32: Advanced Construction Drawing & Detailing
  • Unit 33 : Construction Technology for Complex

Buildings Projects

You will also study a further 45 credits at level 5 that will be set by the tutor.

The programme will be taught using a combination of lectures, guest speakers and tutorials. The programme will be assessed using a combination of assignments, practical assessment and examinations.

Entry requirements for the HND in Construction Management is based on student completion of the 8 Level 4 modules on the HNC course.
