This qualification is suitable for people looking for a career in play work. Completing the qualification could lead to a role as a:

- Holiday representative
- Leisure centre assistant or manager
- Play therapist.
- School lunchtime supervisor
Learners will take part in a play related placement to gain practical experience of the skills learnt in the classroom.
What you will study
Learners will study Equality and diversity, communication, and personal development skills along with the principles of children’s play and safeguarding and children’s health, wellbeing, learning and development.
Entry requirements
You’ll need: 3 GCSEs Grades A* - C or Level 2 Certificate with a Pass or higher Grade D or above in GCSE English or Welsh Language, or a Pass in Essential Skills Level 2 Communication achieved within the last two years Grade D or above in GCSE Maths, or a Pass in Essential Skills Level 2 Numeracy achieved within the last two years

After I looked into studying Childcare at Cardiff and Vale College, I knew it was the right course for me. The learning environment here is great and there’s so much support available. I am dyslexic, but the tutors here have all been so helpful all throughout the course. I can be quite anxious when it comes to meeting new people, but even within the first week I felt settled here. Studying here also gave me the opportunity to participate at Skills Competition Wales 2023 in Childcare – which I went on to win! I plan on progressing from Level 2 to Level 3 here at the College and then train to be a Speech and Language Therapist, helping children and young adults with their communication skills.
