Youth work helps young people learn about themselves, others and society, through informal educational activities which combine enjoyment, challenge and learning. Youth workers work typically with young people aged between 11 and 25. Their work seeks to promote young people’s personal and social development and enable them to have a voice, influence and place in their communities and society as a whole.
Learners will study Equality and diversity, safeguarding, young people’s development and engaging and communicating with young people along with the theory of youth work.

This course has given me valuable, hands-on experience in healthcare and I have always felt supported by my teachers throughout my time here. The facilities are great and we always use the most up-to-date, industry-standard equipment. The College has also provided me with accessible transport links, which has made getting to and from campus really easy. I’m excited for my future, I’m looking to progress to Level 3 next year and then into employment in the sector.
A Youth Work qualification prepares learners to begin working with young people in a range of youth work settings and is suitable if learners are new to youth work and require an introduction to the principles and purposes of youth work and the key themes for working in the sector.
