About this course

This part time Level 1, Introduction to Electrical Installation course is designed to give students a hands-on, practical approach to Electrical Installation and Health and Safety in the Building Services Industry. It prepares learners to develop the skills and knowledge required to produce electrical installation work.
Learners will learn about: 

  • Electrical Theory: How electrical circuits are installed, and work. 
  • Health & Safety: How to apply health and safety in the Building Services industry. 
  • Electrical Wiring: How to install and terminate wiring systems.
  • Electrical Practical skills: How to use electrical installation tools. 

What you will study

The course will develop your knowledge and practical skills relating to Electrical installation work and you will cover a range of activities and gain an experience of the tools and equipment used in Electrical installation, such as:

  • Connecting flex to common apparatus (plug tops and ceiling roses).
  • Installing Socket circuits – Radial and Ring Final circuits.
  • Installing Lighting circuits. 

You will study in our dedicated construction centres and facilities. These include classrooms for theory and Electrical workshops where you develop your practical skills each week using industry standard tools and equipment.
Your course assessment comprises of assignments which are used to gauge your skills development, including practical electrical installation skills tests.

Entry requirements

3 GCSEs Grades A*-D. Alternatively, applicants will be considered based on interview and a satisfactory skills scan, with a desire and commitment to complete the course they would wish to study. PPE Required: work trousers and steel toe capped boots Other Equipment: pencils, pens and a notepad
