This one-year diploma course will introduce you to basic Fashion and Textiles Design practices, skills and techniques.
You will have the opportunity to work with interesting and diverse projects while gaining a valid understanding of the subject.
You will experiment with your ideas, look at the work of other artists and designers and build a creative portfolio.
You will be given the chance to develop your skills and self-confidence in a mature, friendly and safe environment.
The course is broad and allows you to explore a range of art and design disciplines, and help you progress to one of our Level 3 courses in the Creative Industries sector.
Specialist units will provide you with basic and creative skills in Fashion and Textiles, Research into a range of artists, 2D & 3D work, surface design, drawing, painting and print making.
You will have the opportunity to work on a personal project and showcase your newly developed skills within the subject.

Although the course runs alongside relevant English and Maths qualifications, you will work with vocationally relevant projects to help develop and understanding of contextual language and maths involved within the subject at industry level.
You will also develop your personal presentation, communication and organisational skills. Work experience opportunities are available.
Projects 1 & 2 of the Level 2 Award in Art and Design will be internally assessed and internally verified through students’ portfolios of evidence and is subject to UAL Awarding Body’s external quality assurance.
Project 3 of the Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design will be internally assessed and internally and externally moderated against the assessment criteria for those units.
The college has extensive Art & Design studios and workshops to support your studies. This includes:
Fashion and Textiles Workshop:
• Availability of a wide range of materials including fabrics, pattern blocks, construction equipment i.e. needles, thread, pins, etc.
• Manufacturing equipment including sewing machines, embroidery machine, heat press, laser cutter and 3D printer.
Print Room:
• Access to specialist print equipment.
• Digital Printing facilities
Photography Studios:
• Photography Backdrop Spaces
• Darkroom Facilities
