This UAL Level 2 Award and Diploma in Art and Design will suit anyone who is interested in a career in art and design. You will get to explore a wide range of media and design techniques including 3D design, ceramics, textiles, graphic communication, print making and painting.
Most students who successfully complete this course progress onto one of the Level 3 art and design related courses run at the College. Successful completion of a level 3 course can allow you to progress onto university.
Candidates will be expected to show evidence of an Art and Design Portfolio at interview.
On the course you will study four projects themed by:
1. The Formal Elements in Art and Design
2. Still Life: Light and Measure
3. Design & Make: 2D Art, 3D Design and Animation for a Purpose
4. Personal Final Major Project
They will include subjects such as:
• Drawing
• 3D Design
• Ceramics
• Textiles
• Graphic Communications
• Printmaking
• Painting
• Contextual studies
• Digital Portfolio in Teams for each Project
• Essential Skills Application of Number, Communication and ICT
Studio Fees: £65.00
4 GCSEs A* - D including an Art related subject, English Language and Maths.
OR
Level 1 qualification in Art & Design to include English and Maths at D or above.
Candidates will be expected to show evidence of an Art and Design Portfolio at interview.
You must provide a Portfolio and may be requested to attend an interview.
You must re-sit GCSE English Language or Maths if Grade D for successful progression onto L3 qualifications.
Candidates will be expected to show evidence of an Art and Design Portfolio with a range of drawings to the standard required for entry onto the L2 course.
After completing this course, successful candidates may have the option to continue onto the Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design. Many students also pursue employment apprenticeships within the industry.
