About this course

AS Photography is an intermediate level course suited to those with an interest in creative subjects and art-based photographyLearners will need a basic level of computer literacy as you will be creating a digital portfolio. Students will explore a range of styles including landscape & portraiture photography, leading to the production of an individual project. The course includes artist research, theory and image analysis tasks. Practical work is supported with written notes to explain your ideas and processes. The course includes an introduction to editing software Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom, which will be used to experiment with digital imagery. Students will be encouraged to explore other creative techniques, such as collage to create original and personal lens-based artwork

Students don’t need to have prior photographic knowledge but must be able to take lots of pictures throughout the course in their own time.

Entry requirements

  • A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade A* - C including English Language and Maths.
  • Interview.

Individual subjects may require higher grades. 
Mature learners without these qualifications may be accepted after an interview with the subject tutor.

Course times

17:45 - 20:45 on Wednesday. 

Teaching and assessment

The course is assessed on the production of a digital portfolio and photographic work. 

Coursework is submitted in May
