CAVC in collaboration with the Royal college of Nursing, USW and Aneurin Bevan health board are offering this course for learners who have previously studied at Level 3 with a desire to work in nursing.
You will attend college one day per week, and USW one day per month to help you prepare for your university experience. The course runs for 6 months in preparation for the spring intake for nursing students.
This course will provide you with:
Learners with healthcare support worker jobs may apply to complete this course and remain in their current employment.
You will complete modules in reflective practice where you use your paid work experience to relate policy and theory to practice.
You will also complete the Royal College of nursing Level 3 Diploma and look at areas and topics that are important in the role of a health care worker such as inclusion, person centred care and infection prevention and control.
Health Care simulation room in the College, use of RCN library and use of USW facilities.
Direct application to USW for Nursing courses.
Candidates that desire progression into a Nursing career. Level 3 Health and Social Care Diploma, Or Level 3 Access to Nursing and midwifery, Or 3 A Levels with a health and care focus. GCSE English Language at C grade or above GCSE maths at C grade or above (or equivalent)

Learners completing this course may choose to apply for the spring or summer intake of nurses in any applicable university. Learners may also choose to remain in a health care support worker role in order to progress internally with the Aneurin Bevan health board.
