About the Course:
The Level 3 Plumbing & Heating qualification is a comprehensive, industry-recognised programme that equips learners with the practical competence and technical understanding needed to work confidently in the plumbing and heating sector. It is an essential component of the Welsh Level 3 Apprenticeship Pathway and supports strong progression into employment and further professional development.

Apprentices must complete the required technical and competence qualifications, such as:
Level 2 Core in Construction & Building Services Engineering (if not previously achieved).
Learners then progress to the combined Level 3 Plumbing & Heating qualification, which sits within Building Services Engineering and follows National Occupational Standards. The EAL Building Services Engineering (Level 3) – Plumbing and Heating qualification is the technical and vocational component that forms the core of the Level 3 Plumbing & Heating Apprenticeship in Wales. It develops the full range of occupational skills, knowledge, and behaviours required for competent employment in the plumbing and heating sector. The Plumbing and Heating Apprenticeship also requires the apprentice to complete the following additional courses: Water Regulations, Heat Pumps and Solar Thermals.

Entry Requirements:
The Level 3 Plumbing & Heating Apprenticeship is suitable for learners who:
Are aged 16+ and employed in the plumbing/heating trade.
Have passed any required sector-specific entry assessments.
Have achieved one of the following Level 2 routes (or equivalent):
Foundation in Construction & the Built Environment (Level 2)
Progression in Building Services Engineering (Level 2)
Welsh Baccalaureate
GCSE A–C in English/Communication, Maths, and Science/Technical subject
Level 2 Access to Building Services Engineering
Important Points:
You must be: Employed for 16 hours or more each week in a suitable role
You must be: Living in Wales or Working 51% of your contract in Wales
You must be: Aged 16 or over
