Higher Apprenticeship in Journalism

Level(s): Level 5

Duration: 18 months

Location: City Centre, 1 day a week

About the Course:

The Journalism Apprenticeship will suit candidates that find, research and tell stories on various platforms including online, broadcast and in print. The apprenticeship will prepare apprentices for the demands of working in digital media by teaching and developing the skills needed to work as a professional journalist. The apprenticeship pathway aims to provide an alternative non-graduate entry route into Journalism and the Creative Media Industries.

Routes:

NCTJ Level 5 Diploma in Journalism
*Essential Skills Wales in Application of Number Level 2
*Essential Skills Wales in Communication Level 2

Applicable if proxies are not available

Entry Requirements:

High standard of Numeracy, Literacy and Digital Literacy
Learners who do not have GCSE A*- C in Maths and English Language or Welsh First Language will complete Essential Skills Wales qualifications at Level 2

Important Points:

You must be: Employed for 16 hours or more each week in a suitable role
You must be: Living in Wales or Working 51% of your contract in Wales
You must be: Aged 16 or over
