Meet ... Richard

My journey at the college has been nothing short of extraordinary. I have now been at the college for just over 7 years and started as a commercial assistant restaurant manager, within my time at the college I have been fortunate to progress into a senior lecturer role and most recently being awarded with promotion to Deputy head of department for Hair, Beauty, Hospitality and Catering. It has been productive tenure which has brought a great deal of opportunity. 

I have been recognised and rewarded for my hard work and ambition by the college on numerous occasions, the college has given me the opportunity to complete my PGCE and progress into an area that has always been a strong ambition of mine. I have had the chance to watch students grow and watch them represent their country on the world skills stage in an industry that I am so passionate about. I have been afforded the opportunity to take students on various trips around the world and educate them with different cultures in a very engaging way.

One of my favourite parts of the job is being able to be a role model to so many learners looking to start their journey within hospitality and catering from junior apprentices to adult learners and watch the flourish giving them the opportunity to develop a career within such a versatile and ambitious industry, however I feel that the most important point to mention is the level of support and trust that has been afforded to me by my line manager has unrivalled in any other place that I have worked, and I can't thank her enough for what she has done for me. It has made my journey at CAVC truly life changing. 

I have completed my PCGE at the college and changed my role to an academic position as well as gaining promotion to Deputy head of department. Have been fortunate to take part in trips across the globe and you my experience and passion within my industry as a platform to develop new Talent within the industry. I have achieved a great deal and know that I can continue to develop and thrive at the college and fulfil any ambition that I have.
