"

I am currently in my sixth year at Cardiff and Vale College. Starting my journey as a Childcare lecturer, I have had the privilege of being apart of the diverse community within Cardiff, making a difference to the lives of people to gain employment and develop within their professional and educational journey. I have contributed to wider policy change within the college, working on focus groups, strategic planning and cross-college initiatives. More recently, I have progressed within my own career, taking a new role as the Deputy Head of Health and Care. With my growing responsibilities and passion for supporting others and leading through change, I have been afforded the opportunity to excel professionally within the organisation.

The college offer a range of professional CPD opportunities and allow employees to have the autonomy to develop through their personal interests and shape their professionalism through the lens of support and guidance. They also offer a wide range of external benefits, receiving an annual pay increase, health care plan to support with medical and health costs and have a range of staff wellbeing services for individual to access.

What I enjoy most about my job is making a difference to learners education and staffs employment opportunities. Being able to respond in action to the diverse needs of the individuals within my department, and offer opportunities to develop professionally and personally.

I have been offered CPD opportunities at my request which have enhanced and enriched my professional abilities, and most notably, I have recently been promoted within my department to Deputy Head of Health and Care. I have been fortunate enough to work on a range of working groups which focus on strategy and change; some of these include Teaching and Leading and Digital Transformation. I have also worked with external industry professionals to develop digital resources which enhance the learner experience and diversify the teaching methods and materials for all staff within the department.

I recently hosted and delivered a nation wide networking event including the awarding body, to meet colleagues from across Wales, share good practice and discuss elements of qualifications to improve quality and delivery of specific content. I also have led on Skill Wales competitions where our learners have medaled numerous times and had the privilege of attending award ceremonies and medal presentations within Wales.
