The Important Stuff

Here’s two important things you need to do as soon as possible to get ready for college.

Set up your CAVC Network Account, including Microsoft Authenticator

Once you’ve enrolled we will send you an email titled Get ready for College – set up your CAVC Network Account.

This includes what you need to do to set up your CAVC Network Account to access computers, systems and the MyCAVC app.
All students need to do this at the start of their course. You need to do this whether you are a new CAVC student or you’ve studied with us before.
Your email will include your username, student email address and initial password. Once logged in you’ll be asked to change your password. It is important you do this for security.

Before you begin

You will need:

  • Your smartphone (iOS or Android)
  • Access to your Get ready for College email with the username and password sent to you.

What you need to do

• Go to Office 365: https://outlook.office365.com

• Log in using the username and password in the email we have sent you.

• Change your password. This important for you to do.
Your password must meet the following requirements:
o Ten characters or more
o Include 3 out of 4 of the following:
o Uppercase character
o Lowercase character
o Number
o Special character (eg @,!#=%).

Your password must not include your name.

• You’re then taken back the CAVC sign in page. Type in your new password and click ‘sign in’.

• A Microsoft pop up box will then appear with ‘More information required’. Click next. This will take you to an additional security verification page.

• Choose ‘Authentication phone’ from the dropdown box, enter mobile number to be set a code by text message. Click next. You will then be sent a text from Microsoft with a verification code to enter on screen. Enter the code on screen and click verify.

• You’re then asked if you’d like to stay signed in - we recommend you do.

Setting up Microsoft Authenticator

Now, you need to Download the “Microsoft Authenticator” app from the Google Play or Apple App Store
Once installed, click the app to open it then login to your CAVC account that you have just set up via www.office.com

Once you have logged in you will be prompted to provide more information, click “Next’. You will then be prompted to select an option from a drop-down list - select “Mobile app”

To complete the process please watch our handy video, or download the easy to follow guide.

And that’s it! You’ve set up your CAVC Network account! You can now log in to computers in college and access your student emails in outlook, which we will email you on. You can also access the full Microsoft Suite including Microsoft Teams which you will use for some online learning, log into the MyCAVC App and much more!

Forget your password? Or need help to set up your account?

Tell your tutor on your first day of College and they will help you get everything setup.

Download and log-in to the MyCAVC App

Go to Apple App Store or GooglePlay. Search for MyCAVC and download onto your phone or tablet.

Open the app and log in with your CAVC Netwrok Account log on details (Student email and your password). To log in you must have set up your CAVC Network Account first. This will then save your settings.

Then, have all you need to know at a click!

  • View your timetable (available two weeks before your course is due to start)
  • See your targets and progress
  • Keep track of assignment deadlines and exam dates
  • Link to support and opportunities for you
  • Follow clubs and see the latest student offers
  • Get important notifications about what you need to do
  • Stay up to date with on what’s on at CAVC

We’ll also be adding new features to the app this summer, and notify you when these are released.

Tip! Turn on notifications so we can send you important messages and updates!

Useful Information

Click on the headings below to learn more about some key bits of information that you might find useful before starting college.

Please wear your ID badge

Wearing your ID badge around your neck shows us who you are and helps us keep you safe.

You must wear your ID badge around your neck at all times when on any college site, this allows staff and other students to identify you as a student of CAVC. Wearing your ID badge also helps to keep us safe as it allows security to easily spot who should be in the college and who shouldn’t.

Some learning environments require you to take off your ID badge, such as working in a construction classroom. Your teacher will inform you if you need to remove it but please ensure you put your ID badge back on when you leave the classroom
