Accessed through a CAVC Part-time Course Bursary

To support adults in financial hardship, the College offers a Part-Time Course Bursary. You can apply for this to help you cover the cost of an eligible part-time course, so you get a discount on the course fee.

What you need to do:

• Check if the course you wish to apply for is eligible for a Part-time Course Bursary
  Courses that are eligible for a discount through a Part-time Course Bursary are shown on the website. These courses have a £ icon and line in the key information at the top of the course page stating:
  £: This course is eligible for discounted Course Fee via a bursary for adults in financial hardship.
  
  When you click on Course fees on this page, you will then see an option for Discounted Course Fee (with Bursary), which includes the amount you will pay if you are successful in securing the Part-time Course Bursary for this Course. There may be other fees listed including Administration Fee/ Awarding Organisation Fee/ Exam Fee and you will need to pay these even if you are successful in securing a Part-time Bursary.
  
  For example, it may look like this:
  Awarding Organisation Fee: £100.00

  Course Fee: £825.00

  Discounted Course Fee (with Bursary): £50.00

  In the above example,
  No Bursary – you pay: Course Fee + Awarding Organisation Fee = £925.00
  With Bursary – you pay: Discounted Course Fee + Awarding Organisation Fee: £150.00
  
  

• Check if you are eligible to apply for a Part-time Course Bursary
  To apply for Part-time Course Bursary you must meet one or more of the criteria below and provide evidence of this at application:
  Priority hardship route:
  • Care experienced
  • Young carer
  • Experiencing housing insecurity or homelessness
  • Referred by a recognised agency (eg/ local authority, housing provider, DWP partner or third sector organisation)

  Means-tested route:

  • Low income and in receipt of means tested benefits due to low income, including:
    • Universal Credit
    • Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance
    • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Income Support
    • Pension Credit (Guarantee Credit)
    • Learners who are refugees or asylum seekers, and who are treated as home learners for FE funding in Wales, may be considered for bursary support where financial hardship is evidenced, through the same assessment routes as other learners.

Evidence may include a recent benefit award notice or equivalent documentation.

  Apply online for the course today
  When you apply, answer the question about being in receipt on benefits and upload evidence before submitting application.
  Once you’re application and evidence has been reviewed, you’ll receive an email to confirm your application and whether you are eligible to pay the reduced fee through the Part-Time Course Bursary.

Please note, the Part-time Course Bursary fund is limited, awarded on a first-come, first served basis and the submission of an application does not guarantee the Bursary and the discounted fee being awarded.
