The Classroom, the restaurant at Cardiff and Vale College’s City Centre Campus, has again been shortlisted for AA College Restaurant of the Year, supported by People 1st International.

This is the fourth consecutive year that The Classroom has been shortlisted for the award which showcases outstanding commitment to the training of the next generation of hospitality professionals.

A classic modern European restaurant in the heart of Cardiff, The Classroom offers high quality, seasonal food with local ingredients where possible. A team of industry professionals lead the restaurant, which is staffed by the College’s Hospitality and Catering learners.

The Classroom has also retained its People 1st International’s gold award Centre of Excellence status and its AA highly commended rosette.

As part of the judging day for the AA College of the Year Awards, student teams were invited to explore how the industry can build a more diverse and inclusive working environment, and how this culture can empower employees to deliver inclusive service to customers.

Each group delivered presentations and were interviewed by a distinguished panel of industry leaders, who praised the creativity, insight, and professionalism displayed throughout. The award ceremony will take place in London on 22nd September.

Cardiff and Vale College Principal Sharon James-Evans said: “Congratulations to the team at The Classroom for being shortlisted for AA College Restaurant of the Year – it’s a real accolade! I wish the team and the learners all the very best of luck on the day.”
