Three learners from Cardiff and Vale College have been granted the privilege of becoming Lord Lieutenant’s Cadets for Mid Glamorgan.
Able Cadet Ann-Maria Petter of Porthcawl Sea Cadet Corps, Flight Sergeant Emily Richards of No 1 Welsh Wing RAF Air Cadets and Cadet Corporal Casey Garland of CAVC’s Combined Cadet Force will hold their posts for the next year. It is the first time a CAVC CCF cadet has been appointed a Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet.
They will now accompany the King’s representative for Mid Glamorgan, Lord Lieutenant Professor Peter Vaughan QPM CStJ on his official duties.
Anna-Maria and Emily Richards are both A Levels learners at the College, while Casey is on the Connect to CAVC course.
Casey said: "I am extremely privileged and honoured to be named as a Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for 2023-24. I am both excited and nervous to be representing HM the King, the Army Cadets and Cardiff and Vale College. I am so grateful for this opportunity."
Cardiff and Vale College Principal Sharon James said: “Congratulations to Ann-Maria, Casey and Emily from all of us here at CAVC – the next year will hold some amazing experiences for them. The fact that they have been recognised by the King’s representative for the area shows that they are obviously an inspiration to their peers and colleagues which is something they should all be very proud of.”
