WorldSkills UK National Finals at Cardiff and Vale College

From Monday 14th November until Friday 18th November, Cardiff and Vale College’s City Centre Campus will be one of six college venues and the only one in Wales to host WorldSkills UK Finals.

Previously held in the Birmingham NEC, WorldSkills sees the UK’s best students and apprentices compete for gold in a variety of disciplines and a chance to compete in the international WorldSkills Finals, popularly known as the “Skills Olympics”.

CAVC has been chosen to host 14 of the 62 contests – more than any other college in the UK. They are:

• Foundation Skills: Restaurant Services
• Digital Media Production
• Foundation Skills: Catering
• Foundation Skills: Media

• Aircraft Maintenance
• Automotive Body Repair
• Automotive Refinishing
• Automotive Technology
• Heavy Vehicle Engineering

Welsh WorldSkills Delegate and Chief Executive of Cardiff and Vale College Mike James said: “We are delighted to be hosting the WorldSkills UK Finals this month. At CAVC we have a long and successful association with WorldSkills, and this is an excellent opportunity to bring together employers and the best young talent in the UK in our top-class facilities.

How you can get involved:

On Wednesday 16th and Thursday 17th November CAVC will be hosting an exciting visitor experience giving people the opportunity to take part in fun and interactive activities. These will give a real insight into some of the most exciting career opportunities in Construction and Infrastructure, Media and Creative, Engineering and Technology.

The College will also host a Careers and Progression Fair, inviting a wide range of employers from priority sectors as well as educational organisations and universities. There will be a great line-up of inspirational guest speakers including Sean Molino from Forces Fitness and Jamie McAnsh from See No Bounds. Local schools are invited to take part in sector-specific challenges with prizes to be won!
