Cardiff and Vale College re-accredited for the matrix Standard

27 May 2021

Cardiff and Vale College has been accredited to the matrix Standard, demonstrating the high quality advice and guidance it provides to students across the College.

The matrix Standard is the international quality standard for organisations that deliver information, advice and/or guidance, either as their sole purpose or as part of their service offering. CAVC originally gained accreditation in the 2018-19 academic year, and was the first Welsh college to do so.

The accreditation review report noted that information, advice and guidance was delivered to students through their personal tutors, and through experienced and qualified staff in all support areas. This includes Student Services, Careers and Ideas Centre, Success Centres and Additional Learning Support.

It also pointed to the quality of support being rated highly in student surveys quoting student satisfaction levels of 95%, and the “high degrees of added value” CAVC offers to its learners through additional enrichment experiences such as WorldSkills competitions, One Million Mentors for Higher Education students and Career Ready.

Roger Chapman, Head of the matrix Service for The Growth Company said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Cardiff and Vale College and I would like to congratulate the team on their success. We believe that at the heart of high-quality advice and support services are strong leadership, excellent service and a focus on continuous improvement, all underpinned by effective use of the resources available.

“The matrix Standard is designed to benchmark organisations against best practice in these areas. With their accreditation success, Cardiff and Vale College is working to provide the best possible support to their students.”

Sharon James, Deputy Principal of Cardiff and College said: “At CAVC our work across the College is led by the key drivers of Quality, Efficiency and Growth, so to retain the matrix Standard for the value of the advice and guidance we provide is excellent news.

“We are strongly committed to helping our students learn and develop throughout their Learner Journey, and we strive to support them every step of the way. Well done to everyone across the College who has worked so hard to ensure the advice and guidance we offer is of such a high standard – we couldn’t have done this without you.”
