Cardiff and Vale College Independent Living Skills Lecturer Chantelle Deek has been highly commended in the WorldSkills Diversity and Inclusion Awards.
Chantelle was shortlisted for the Competition Diversity award, recognising her drive to raise awareness and engagement with WorldSkills UK Competitions, and her commitment to inspire and empower underrepresented communities to engage in the opportunities that the Skills Competitions bring.
“I am absolutely thrilled to have been highly commended in the World Skills competition for Inclusion and Diversity,” Chantelle said. “It has been such a positive opportunity for our learners to get involved in and showcase their amazing skills.
“It has allowed them to thrive and grow and feel valued members of society, where they can feel confident with growing independence for whatever life brings them. I really look forward to being part of other skills competitions in the future.
The College’s Higher Education Sabbatical Officer Sudhuf Khan was also shortlisted for the Rising Star award, recognising her inspirational journey through Further Education, her contributions to CAVC and Agored Cymru, and continuous support for her peers and the wider community through PGCE podcasts and social media.
