Thousands of new students have been welcomed to their first year at Cardiff and Vale College’s biggest ever Freshers’ Week at its Barry and City Centre campuses.
The students were introduced to the various services and support that CAVC has to offer, as well as a range of exciting activities including Spin to Win with Capital FM, a Boulders climbing wall, have a go sessions from several gyms. The College’s TEL team offered Mario Kart and a Virtual Reality rollercoaster, Hair and Beauty students gave demonstrations. In Barry the College’s Hospitality and Catering team treated stall holders and students alike to freshly made hot chocolate, milkshakes and home-made ice cream.
Stand such as Price Cymru gave out advice and guidance, while others including Telefonica offered vouchers and deals. Careers and health advice were also available.
CAVC Principal Kay Martin said: “The first week in a new learning environment can be a little bit daunting so we want to make sure our new students are given a warm and friendly welcome. It helps to have fun activities and freebies as well.”
