Hardship and Emergency Support Funds

CAVC can offer support to UK students who are experiencing financial difficulties.

Support from the schemes below is dependent on individual circumstances and is not guaranteed. Both are limited funds and may not be available during the whole of an academic year.

Emergency Support Fund
Students experiencing problems with their student finance applications, who have not yet received their first payment and are in immediate hardship as a result, can apply to this fund. Assessment is based on individual circumstances and awards are not guaranteed.

Hardship Fund
Students who, following receipt of their student finance, are experiencing longer term hardship can apply to the Hardship Fund. Please be aware that assessment is based on individual circumstances and there is no guarantee that students will be eligible for an award. The Hardship Fund is a limited pot of money and therefore not guaranteed to be available throughout the year.

It is important to recognise that the Fund has been established to act as a safety net and not to fund expensive lifestyle choices. If you have expenses such as a mobile phones, holidays, gym membership, Sky digital, or non-essential car costs, you will be expected to be able to pay for these yourself.
As a student, it is essential that you live within your means and take steps to increase your income and decrease your expenditure.
For those experiencing hardship, applications can be made from October up until 6 weeks prior to the end of your studies.
