About this course
This qualification is designed for learners who want to go on to further learning at level 3 or into a relevant travel and tourism role. It is particularly relevant for those aged 16 - 18 undertaking a large programme of full-time study, but it is also relevant to adult learners who maybe changing career or entering a new industry. The course id delivered by lecturers who have many years' of industry related experience and qualifications that will support and encourage a passion for travel and tourism.
What you will study
Customer Service in Travel & Tourism, the UK Travel and Tourism Industry which are the mandatory units and additional units of study could include, Travel & Tourism Destinations, UK Coastal Tourism, Introduction to Guided Tours, Career Planning for Travel and Tourism, Understanding Specialist Tourism. Learners will also study Essential Skills or GCSE resit programme in English or Maths.

I was attracted to CAVC because I felt like the college environment would be the right suit for me – as I wanted to study something that I loved. I felt like Cardiff and Vale College was able to offer me much more than just my course as I was part of the Netball Academy and a course rep.
My favourite thing about the Travel and Tourism course is how diverse it is – we were never just stuck in the classroom. During my course, we had the opportunity to spend two weeks in Palma doing a work placement, and learning in a practical environment.Since finishing my course, I have now progressed to working for Swissport at Cardiff Airport.
