The aim of this F Gas and ODS Regulations course (2079-11 Category 1) is to provide the applicant with the knowledge and skills to work on the installation, service, maintenance, recovery and leak checking of stationary refrigeration, air conditioning and heat pump equipment that contain refrigerants classed as either Fluorinated (F) gases or Ozone Depleting Substances (ODS).
This qualification is linked with the legal requirements and demonstrates how to contain, prevent and reduce emissions of F-gases, covered by the Kyoto protocol. It is a legal requirement that anyone who handles F-Gas refrigerants has the relevant 2079 or equivalent qualification.
We would recommend that you also consider enrolling on Hydrocarbon Refrigeration, Air Conditioning and Heat Pump Systems course, as it provides valuable complementary skills and knowledge.
This is the intensive course (fast paced), for competent engineers employed in the industry in the UK for a minimum of 2 years (will need to show evidence). Please note, F Gas is a challenging course and a pass is not guaranteed.

4 GCSE Grades A* - D including Maths and English Language and satisfactory interview. Candidates must be experienced, employed by a qualified refrigeration or Air conditioning employer, having a recognised qualification to at least a Level 2 in the RACHP sector or have a minimum of 2 year's experience working in the area in the UK and currently employed in the industry. You must be able to braze, charge and recover refrigerants. Delegates must be employed within the industry as a refrigeration engineer or equivalent. We run a 5 day course for less inexperienced engineers – who meet the above criteria.
