The Diploma and Extended Diploma in Music (Production) is a two-year full-time course offering learners the opportunity to develop specialist knowledge and transferrable skills that will support their future career progression into a dynamic music industry. The course will also prepare learners for Higher Education studies in music related courses.
The Diploma will cover 8 mandatory units integrated into 5 main projects that will be delivered across the first year. The projects will cover the following key areas:

Learners will also be studying the Advanced Skills Baccalaureate Wales as part of their programme of study, which also includes weekly tutorials with a Progress Coach and independent study sessions. There are no exams during this course. Instead, you are continually assessed throughout the year and results are based on practical and written projects.

At CAVC we have a state of the art recording studio that uses industry leading software, including Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Ableton Live and a suite of studio quality processor plugins.
We also have 2 specialist music production suites with the latest Apple Mac workstations that also use a range of industry relevant software packages.
5 GCSEs A* - C including English Language and Maths or a Level 2 Diploma in this discipline at Merit grade or higher, combined with English and Maths GCSEs at grade C or above. You must attend an interview.
There are no exams during this course. Instead, you are continually assessed throughout the year and results are based on practical and written projects.
There are opportunities to progress into Higher Education at CAVC or elsewhere, with previous learners being accepted on courses within this discipline across the country. This course also sets learners up to progress straight into industry or apprenticeships within a similar field to their study, with some of our previous learners going into employment with the BBC, music event companies and podcast production companies, to name a few.
