Designed for aspiring coaches, team leaders and first-line managers, this nationally recognised qualification combines both the theory of coaching with the opportunity to practice your newfound coaching skills.

What you will study

To successfully achieve your ILM Level 3 Award, you will be required to attend 5 mandatory in-person classroom sessions and tutorial sessions with your tutor on the dates below:


  • Workshop 1:  Thursday 11th December 2025

  • Workshop 2:  Thursday 15th January 2026

  • Workshop 3:  Thursday 12th February 2026

  • Workshop 4:  Thursday 12th March 2026

  • Workshop 5:  Thursday 16th April 2026

  • Understanding Good Practice in Coaching within an Organisational Context

  • Undertaking Coaching in an Organisational Context

  • Reflecting on Coaching Skills within an Organisational Context


Assessment Options

This qualification consists of 3 leadership modules, each with a comprehensive assignment consisting of; a theory-based assignment, a coaching diary (evidence of 6 hours’ worth of coaching within an organisation), and a reflective assignment.


Self-study time is essential to help you complete your assignments and prepare for your assessment – so be sure to plan your schedule accordingly.  


You will receive full support throughout, with guidance from your dedicated ILM tutor via email, Microsoft TEAMS, phone and during your tutorial days.


Once you have successfully passed both modules, you will be awarded your ILM Level 3 Award in Effective Coaching Certificate, along with a digital credential badge to share and celebrate your achievement online.


Entry requirements

You are eligible for this course if you:

  • are aged 19 or over
  • are not in full time education
  • can attend all course dates
  • ideally hold a A*- C in GCSE English or equivalent
  • are an aspiring coach, team leader or first-line manager
