About this course
This course is designed for 16-19-year olds who have no experience. It will provide you with the basic knowledge and skills in preparation for a career in hairdressing.
Throughout this qualification, you will ensure responsibility to reduce risks to health and safety, prepare and maintain work area and contribute to the development of effective working relationships.
You will be supervised by technical staff and assessed on your competence.
What you will study
Includes: NVQ Level 1 Certificate in Hairdressing and Barbering This qualification will develop learners’ skills in:
- Shampooing and conditioning
- Blow drying
- Removing various types of colour
- Plaiting and twisting
As well as a level 1 certificate in customer service. You will also study Essential skills in communication and application of number. Any learner who achieved a GCSE grade D will have the opportunity to resit.

Interview is required.
