This course forms part of the Sixth Form Flex programme. Learners on this programme should choose this option if they intend upon the completion of the Sixth Form Flex programme to specifically apply for A Level Economics, Government & Politics, Religious Studies and Sociology amongst others.
This qualification is split into 2 Units:
Unit 1: Understanding Social Processes
This component covers the following topic areas:
A written assessment with a mix of short answer, structured questions and extended response questions, all compulsory. The extended response questions will require candidates to draw together different areas of knowledge, skills and/or understanding from across the relevant specification content.
Unit 2: Understanding Social Structures
This component covers the following topic areas:

4 hours per week of delivery. 2 hours contact and 2 hours of online delivery.

4 GCSEs Grades A* - D, including English Language.
After you have applied, you will be invited to an Information Event. Attendance at the event is an entry requirement along with anything specified above. It would be helpful to your application if you could bring your evidence of your predicted grades or qualifications achieved.
Following the completion of this one year course, students will have a number of options for internal progression dependent upon the outcomes of each qualification. These will range from going on to complete 3 A Levels with the Welsh Baccalaureate to beginning a Level 3 Diploma or Extended Diploma in a vocational course. Depending on the option taken, this will involve a further year or 2 years of study.
