Delivered by SkyAcademy, AWS re/Start is a workforce development training program that prepares you for a career in the cloud and connects you to potential employers.
Delivery schedule:
This course will be for 12 weeks full time Monday – Friday each week, 9am – 5pm. This is delivered via blended learning through virtual classroom online and face to face sessions.
A technology background is not required and is focused on helping unemployed, underemployed, career changers or returners looking to launch a new cloud career.
Through coursework and hands-on labs, using real world scenarios, you can gain the technical skills you need for entry to mid-level cloud roles. AWS re/Start also provides you with professional skills training including CV creation and review, and interview coaching to prepare you for employer meetings and job interviews.
AWS re/Start curriculum is adapted to you, it will assess where you are in your learning journey, desired objectives and your learning style.
Through scenario-based exercises, instructor-led sessions, you will build Linux, Python, networking, security, database, automation, and core AWS Cloud skills.
Additionally, you will complete the necessary training and be given the opportunity to sit the exam for the AWS Cloud Practitioner certification – an essential starting point for those looking to start a career in cloud.
You will receive job-specific training for roles such as technical support specialist, systems administrator, cloud automation lead, up to infrastructure engineer and more.
Weekly assessments will be conducted, assessing your attendance and knowledge as each subject is covered.
Practice exams and practical assessments will take place during the bootcamp, and you will sit the AWS Cloud Practitioner exam, allowing you to obtain your AWS certification upon completion of the bootcamp.
This bootcamp has no formal entry requirements and applicants will be selected following an informal online group interview with the provider. The bootcamp has been especially designed with the following individuals in mind:
No technical background is required for this program, but candidates must be passionate about a career in tech in order to maximise the opportunity. Applicants must be 18+ and live or work in the Cardiff Capital Region, which includes Bridgend, Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Cardiff, Merthyr Tydfil, Monmouthshire, Newport, Rhondda Cynon Taf, Torfaen, and the Vale of Glamorgan. Applicants cannot be in full-time education. For applicants on a Visa you will also need to upload your visa/documents so that we can confirm your right to work following completion of the bootcamp.
Each candidate who successfully completes all assessments during the bootcamp will be guaranteed an interview for an entry level cloud position with one of Wales’ many thriving tech organisations.
Graduation from the bootcamp also provides you with a personal development plan, covering your unique next steps to continue your learning.
Additionally, each successful graduate will receive support direct from AWS, including free learning materials, to help you prepare for the next AWS certification should you wish to continue your education beyond the bootcamp.
