About this course

This course is designed for learners who wish to pursue a career in hospitality and catering. It provides hands-on experience in both front-of-house and kitchen areas, allowing you to develop practical skills in a real restaurant environment.

Throughout the year, you will build Level 1 and Level 2 culinary skills while gaining valuable experience in live working settings. You will also develop a wide range of customer service skills, alongside essential skills in communication and the application of number.

Learners who have achieved a grade D in GCSE English or Maths will have the opportunity to take resits alongside the course to improve their qualifications.

What you will study

You will study all aspects of kitchen and restaurant work, developing practical skills in areas such as customer care, food safety, health and safety, and the preparation and cookery of meat and poultry, fish, vegetables, pasta, rice, sauces, and soups. The course combines theory and practical lessons, with assessment carried out in a live working environment. There are no formal written exams, allowing you to demonstrate your skills through real-world performance.
