Foundation Apprenticeship in Food Production and Cooking

Level(s): Level 2

Duration: 15 months

Location: Work Based

About the Course:

The Level 2 apprenticeship is designed for learners employed in a wide range of hospitality and catering establishments that need to develop knowledge, understanding and skills essential for working in a hospitality environment. Learners are required to take mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team and maintaining food safety in a hospitality environment.

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Food Production and Cooking
Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Food Production and Cooking)
*City and Guilds Essential Skills Wales in Application of Number Level 1
*City and Guilds Essential Skills Wales in Communication Level 1

Applicable if proxies are not available

Entry Requirements:

High standard of Numeracy, Literacy and Digital Literacy
Learners who do not have GCSE D-G in Maths and English Language or Welsh First Language will complete Essential Skills Wales qualifications at Level 1

Important Points:

You must be: Employed for 16 hours or more each week in a suitable role
You must be: Living in Wales or Working 51% of your contract in Wales
You must be: Aged 16 or over

Foundation Apprenticeship in Professional Cookery

Level(s): Level 2

Duration: 18 months

Location: Work Based

About the Course:

The Level 2 apprenticeship is designed for learners employed in a wide range of hospitality and catering establishments that need to develop knowledge, understanding and skills essential for working in a hospitality environment. Learners are required to take mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, maintaining, handling and cleaning knives and maintaining food safety in a hospitality environment.

Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Professional Cookery
Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Professional Cookery)

*City and Guilds Essential Skills Wales in Communication Level 1

About the Course:

The Level 2 apprenticeship is designed for learners employed in a wide range of hospitality and catering establishments that need to develop knowledge, understanding and skills essential for working in a hospitality environment. Learners are required to take mandatory units which cover aspects of maintaining a safe, hygienic and secure working environment, working effectively as part of a hospitality team, giving customers a positive impression of themselves and their organisation and cleaning and servicing a range of housekeeping areas in a hospitality
environment.

Level 2 Certificate in Hospitality and Catering Principles (Hospitality Services)
