The new Advanced Technology Centre, based alongside CAVC’s International Centre for Aerospace Training (ICAT) at Cardiff Airport, will be a place where people can learn the skills that local employers are really looking for — now and in the future. With space for nearly 2,000 learners, the campus will support people at every stage of their career, from those just starting out to those looking to retrain or move up.
Courses will focus on advanced technologies and green skills, helping to support jobs, businesses and economic growth across the region. Learning here will be practical and hands-on, shaped around what employers actually need, using industry-standard equipment and facilities that reflect real working environments. The campus will include specialist spaces such as advanced composites manufacturing facilities, robotics and mechatronics labs, and a dedicated green skills house. Learners will also use tools like Virtual Reality and AI, alongside rapid prototyping equipment, 3D metal printers and autonomous drones, giving them experience with the technologies shaping modern industries.
Alongside full-time courses, the centre will offer apprenticeships and part-time learning, making it easier for people already in work — and their employers — to build new skills. Higher Education courses will also be available, including programmes delivered in partnership with universities.
