Applied Human Biology - BTEC A Levels

Over the course of two years you will study a range of units that contribute to a broad range of understanding related to health sciences.

Year 1

• Unit 1: Principles of Applied Human Biology (exam)
• Unit 2: Practical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases (coursework)

The course is assessed through a combination of internal and external assessment.

Internal Assessment

Internally assessed units comprise of 3-4 coursework assignments completed over the course of the academic year. Each assignment will address a different topic within the unit. All assignments must be submitted via Microsoft Teams by published deadlines to be valid.

External assessment

Unit 1 is assessed by a written exam in mid-January of Year 1 which assesses learner’s understanding of applied human biology across a range of topics.

• Laboratory experience in microbiology and genetics.
